Audi has officially unveiled the next-generation A6 allroad. There has already been plenty written about it, so I won’t repeat what you’ve probably seen elsewhere. Instead, I’ll ask just one question: why?
Crossovers have almost completely taken over the market once occupied by rugged wagons. So why develop an all-new Audi A6 allroad? I think the answer is quite simple: there’s still solid demand for this kind of car. That’s also why, by the way, the new A6 allroad will be sold not only in Europe but also in the United States.
Just look around. Volvo has gradually phased out the V60 Cross Country and V90 Cross Country. Before that came the end of the Škoda Octavia Scout, and even earlier Volkswagen discontinued the Golf Alltrack and Passat Alltrack. Meanwhile, the latest-generation Subaru Outback has moved even closer to becoming a crossover.
Sure, Mercedes-Benz still offers the C-Class All-Terrain and E-Class All-Terrain, but I’m not convinced they’ll make it to another generation.
Audi A6 allroad, however, has not only survived — it has received an all-new generation. The fifth one, by the way. That’s a quarter of a century in production.
Finally, here’s my completely subjective opinion. The 2027 Audi A6 allroad is the most beautiful and stylish version in the model’s history. More than that, I honestly think it’s one of the best-looking Audi models ever made.
